North End Cafe.

The other day, friend Tom asked Bern and I over for brunch. He lives in the Highlands - close to the new North End Cafe location. Tom and friend Tricia have both waxed poetic about North End’s Frankfort Avenue location, so I was excited.
I ended up getting the Tofu Scramble (Seared tofu sautéed with vegetables. Served with home fries and choice of bread - $7.50) with a biscuit and a side of vegetarian gravy. I was hungry! Although I only ate half, it - - - was - - - amazing. The tofu was cooked perfectly, the veggies were crisp, and the biscuit with gravy together was a delicious guilty pleasure.

Bern and Tom both opted for the Hearty Breakfast (Three eggs any style, two pancakes, bacon, sausage, home fries, grits and choice of bread - $9.99). The breakfast was huge, basic, yummy, and a serious value for the low price. I stole pancake bites from both of them - - - DEEEEELISH.
The best thing about eating at North End is the atmosphere. They have a nice pace. You’re not rushed, but things are served timely. The price is totally reasonable for everything on the menu, and their options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all solid. I’m going to try the Salmon Nicoise Salad next time we go there.
If you haven’t checked out either of the two North End locations, do it with friends. It’s an easy place to eat good food and be social!
