Greenhaus Community Bazaar. 4/20/12.

image

I am SO excited!  Greenhaus is hosting a Style, Taste, Design/Community Bazaar this weekend (see above).

Friday night:  Go to Greenhaus from 4-8 to try 15 different bourbon balls fro Cellar Door, a selection of wine and bourbon from Greenhaus (fancy), and shop at a pop-up Hey Tiger booth!

Continue your fun at the Nach Bar where custom simple syrups will be unveiled (think a better, happier Mint Julep).

Saturday from 10-4: You’ll find a Community Bazaar in front and in the back of Greenhaus - think handmade goods, baked stuff, amazing Greenhaus finds, etc.

I get really excited about this kind of thing, and Daniel and the Greenhaus crew never cease to have a happy shin-dig.  So…  COME ON, YA’LL.  I will be there tasting everything, making loud conversation, smiling with friends.  Join us.

Pewkies, by Louisville's Happiness Bastard.

image

My husband is Happiness Bastard.

Now that THAT’S out of the bag, check out his cool, new rotocast resin toy, the Pewkie.

image

According to my favorite Louisville/cool toy bloge, KFHC:

“New from Happiness Bastard comes the Pewkie!  He has been hard at work in his lab creating these.  Each one is roto-casted by hand.

These will be available as a set (Creature, Frankenstein, Mummy, and Wolfman) for $100 on Saturday (4/21) via the Happiness Bastard store @ 11:00 am EST.  Each set will come blind bagged, so you will not know what color combinations that you will get until they arrive.  Don’t worry they are all awesome!  Ony a few sets are going to be avaialble so get yours before they are gone!”

Photos taken by friend KEVLO of KFHC (aka The Toy Altruist).

Buy yours today (available Saturday 4/21) here: http://happinessbastard.bigcartel.com/

Tent of horrors.

“A big red tent has taken up residence in the parking lot of the old Showcase Cinemas on Bardstown Road has people passing by curious about what’s going on inside.”

image

“So, what IS going on?” you ask…  Well…  Have you ever been to those church events where you watch a teen make bad decisions and then they wind up in hell (in my hometown these presentations were appropriately named “Hell House”)?  This is similar:

“The sights, the sounds, even the smells, all modeled after real life. The tent is split into 13 different scenarios from a crack house to a car wreck.

“We show the leading cause of those deaths as in motor vehicle accidents, gang violence, things like that. We’re trying to show the end results of poor decisions that kids can make,” said organizer Justin Christensen.”

We drove by this HUGE tent today - it’s pretty intense - and my husband remarked, “That sounds like an amazing group activity for next weekend…”  As ironic as our intentions may be about going, I always take something away from events like this - and as a teacher, I think this will have an important message to all people, young and old.  I think, for people my age, the whole drinking and driving thing is something we all need to look closely at - I know plenty of folks (my old self included) who thought getting behind the wheel after some drinks was an ok idea, and it totally was not.  We all need to be reminded about the results of one poor decision…

*Article quotes taken from WHAS11.com.

(According to WHAS11 on 4/13/12:  They will be in Louisville for the next 3 weekends. The tent is open on Friday through Sunday from 7-11p.m.)

“Bon Vivant • French bon vivant (literally “one who lives well, good ‘liver’ (living person)”), from bon (“good”) + vivant (“person who is living”), agent noun of vivre (“to live”).”

They will be at the Flea Off Market this Saturday from Noon-6 PM with their delicious tasty treats!  I sure hope they bring these lemon pistachio macarons…
